Gateway: Season 1

Running to Christ

Coming September 12, 2010 to Charlottesville, VA.

Hope Builders International and Expeditions of the Heart are excited to announce the start of Gateway, a new Sunday morning Christian fellowship in Charlottesville.

Why Gateway?

The Christian calling is an invitation to ongoing newness of life. Jesus referred to Himself as the door and invited his followers to a pioneer lifestyle of freedom through fellowship with him. This has been our experience with him over many years. We want to extend His invitation, examine His truths and explore His reality with others in our town, opening new paths for all involved to encounter the love and realness of Jesus Christ.

What will you encounter at Gateway?

People who want to know Jesus Christ better, who like to eat together (that means brunch), share in worship together, be encouraged from the Scriptures, and hang out.

Where will Gateway meet?

The Sunday meeting begins at 10:00 A.M. at The Garden, 1500 Jefferson Park Avenue in Charlottesville (formerly known as the Baptist Student Center).

Who should come?

Seekers. Sinners. Saints. People who are tired of carrying guilt. Young people. Old people. People who think there might be more to God than they thought possible.

Is this a new church?

The Biblical answer to that question is no. Our view is that Christ's church in Charlottesville was started when the first believers got to this town and started gathering together to live out the kingdom of God. That happened a long time ago. That church is still going strong and is filled with believers who love the Lord and are busy living for Him in many varied venues. This church is the visible body of Christ in all her many dimensions: gathering for worship and study, reaching out to the poor, caring for the sick, sharing the truth of the Gospel, encouraging the downhearted, spurring people to faith, praying for the kingdom, enjoying daily life together, and on and on, all in connection to the invisible head who is Christ. We do hope to expand the reach and reality of this church and kingdom. We are not writing bylaws, offering programs or trying to meet all the needs that other church gatherings around town have targeted and do. That said, we do hope to be a gateway to a rich experience of Christ.

Who is behind this?

For several years a core group has been meeting during the week in homes around Albemarle, studying the Scriptures and enjoying following Christ together. We are drawing on that core as the foundation. If you would like more information, contact Lance at lance@hope-builders.org or Jeff at jeff@Expeditionsoftheheart.org.
