The Forge Curriculum is built around key concepts in the Christian faith. Those concepts include Life, Light, the Spirit, the Kingdom, the Church, Spiritual Authority and others. A Biblical understanding and experience of these basics of the faith deepen our fellowship with Christ, clarify our vision of his ageless purpose, better equip us to serve his body and give us a story to tell to the nations.
Morning Teaching Themes Material presented in the morning sessions at The Forge follows the following outline:
Opening Week: God's Mystery; Christ Receiving Light; Experiencing Life
Second Week: The Kingdom of Heaven; The Kingdom of God
Third Week: The Church; The Spirit
Fourth Week: The Cross; The Name of the Lord
Fifth Week: The Word of God; Spiritual Authority
Sixth Week: Prayer; Worship
Seventh Week: The Headship of Christ; God's Eternal Purpose
Eighth Week: The Bride; The New Jerusalem
Speakers will cover these topics from both an Old and New Testament perspective. Other study topics such as The First Century Church Experience, World Religions, Life in a Foreign Culture, Justice Issues, Counseling, Christ in the Marketplace, Gender Issues, and Giftedness will also be covered.
Afternoon Activities Students will spend their afternoons in a variety of activities. Many of them will involve service. English classes will be organized for the overseas students. American students will act as tutors in these sessions. Work projects around the Forge will be carried out in the afternoons. There will also be study and research time related to the themes presented in the morning and evening sessions. For those students who have transportation and need to work part time, afternoons and Saturdays will be the preferred hours to arrange for a job. Students will also work with local ministries serving our inner city population. As a daily part of life at The Forge students will practice serving one another by helping in meal preparation, cleanup and household responsibilities.
Evening Sessions Four nights a week evening meetings will be scheduled as part of The Forge Program. Evening meetings will be participatory, practicing lessons learned about meeting together under the Lord's headship. Sunday night we will eat together and take the Lord's Supper. Evening meetings will also be held on Tuesday and Thursday. Guest speakers from the local community and visiting leaders from overseas will be invited to share in the evening meetings when they are available. StudentsŐ involvement in the evening meetings will include preparing songs, leading in worship and sharing testimonies gleaned from their morning prayer time and daily interactions. Friday night will be an outreach activity night in Charlottesville, a 20 minute drive from our facility. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings will be free.
